Xiaomi Mi-2 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Smartphone Set for October Launch

Xiaomi is not a significant name in mobile industry, but it is definitely a competitor to many bigwigs like Apple and Samsung. This Chinese mobile company is famous for its low cost smartphones.

Xiaomi had recently launched its latest smartphone Mi 1S and sold an initial batch of 200,000 units within just 30 minutes of its launching.

The phone that sported a dual core 1.7GHz processor, a 2-megapixel front camera and an improved 8-megapixel rear camera on board, was sold for a price of $236. It had received around 1.3 million preorders and now 1 million additional reservations is left to fulfill.

The latest is that Xiaomi has announced its Mi-2 quad-core handset that runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It, in fact, is the first Chinese phone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will be definitely lure customers big time.

Xiaomi  is offering this latest Android version smartphone for just $315 (RMB 1,999) and the phone is expected to launch in October 2012.

At present, Xiaomi’s phones are only available only in China, but the company has plans to expand its business overseas too.  Would you want one?
