TRAI Allows Mass Portability of Corporate Numbers

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has made modifications in the mobile number portability regulations to allow mass portability for corporate mobile numbers from Wednesday.

TRAI in its statement said that mobile numbers can be ported for corporate accounts. But they should produce a letter of authorization from the authorized signatory of the corporate mobile numbers. With the new amendment, as many as 50 corporate numbers can be ported out with a single porting request.

TRAI’s amendment not comes as a surprise. According to a BS report, they were constantly receiving complaints from the subscribers of corporate mobile numbers which say that their porting requests have been rejected by the donor operators under the category “Contractual Obligation” for want of permission from the company or corporate for porting such numbers.

With TRAI’s new step, the guidelines will remain in force for 90 days from now and telecom operators will be allowed 48 hours for porting the mobile numbers, compared to 24 hours for individual porting requests.
