Sony Xperia Tipo with Android 4.0; Another Budget Smartphone

Sony is out to charm all you out there with the new Xperia Tipo. The device will make its debut soon after the launch of the Xperia Miro. This new variant is again a budget Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) handset. Sony says that the name of the device is pronounced “tip-oh”.

The smartphone has got an 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Well it that case, we do not expect a smooth run with the same on Android 4.0. The screen size is relatively small of 3.2inch with 320×480 touchscreen.

The camera featured on the handset is of 3.2MP camera on board.

The specs are more similar to the Xperia Miro except for the screen and camera. It also supports 3G and WiFi connectivity and microSD support up to 32GB.

The battery is of 1500mAh.  Sony has also unveiled the dual SIM variant of Tipo called Sony Xperia Tipo Dual.

Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia marketing at Sony said that the phone primarily aims at consumers who want to realise the benefits of a smartphone for the first time as they migrate from a feature phone.

This handset that comes under Sony’s budget smartphones category is available in four different shades- black, white, red and blue. The release date is yet to be confirmed by the manufacturer.
