Sony Puts Tiny Adverts on British Star at Wimbledon

Wimbledon 2013 has kickstarted and it is not just big event for sports fans. It is a big day for consumer electronic giant Sony as well. The prestigious event has Sony launching a much innovative ad campaign to showcase its series of new high resolution 4K TV’s. The company’s two flagship models – the 55XA and 65XA BRAVIA – is already on sale.

This time around, Sony has planted tiny adverts on No. 5 seeded British tennis star Anne Keothavong, in an effort that could be categorized as “microtising” . The ads will be particularly visible to those watching Anne’s matches on one of Sony’s new TVs or those are very near to the tennis star.

Wimbledon this year is filmed and telecast on 4K Ultra HD, with Sony’s F55 35mm 4K and an NEX=FS700 camera which provides 4x that of standard HD, doing the honors. That could mean that Keothavong will be clearly seen sporting Sony ads on her skirt, shoelaces, fingernails and equipment.

So, as long as Keothavong stays in the tourney, Sony will stand to gain. History has it that the British star has never progressed beyond Round 2 earlier.
