Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G Heads for MetroPCS

MetroPCS, a relatively small mobile carrier when compared to Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile, will now offer the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G, which is also known by its model number SCH-R940.

Images of this smartphone, was leaked earlier on Howard Forums.

A lot of information regarding its hardware specifications and features were also leaked along with the images. Samsung Galaxy S Lightray may look familiar.

That is because it shares plenty of similarities with the Samsung Droid Charge from Verizon, both in terms of its physical looks and specifications.

Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display. The smartphone is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

There is a 16GB microSD memory card which means that there is a microSD memory card slot.

What is disappointing, however, is that Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G runs Android 2.3 Ginger Bread, when most new smartphones are waiting for the Jelly Bean update.

In its FCC filing, the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G was shown to support 4G LTE. The device is scheduled for a mid-August launch. But as of now there is no word on its pricing.
