Samsung Galaxy SIII is Official Handset for the London Olympics

The Olympics is coming soon to London and we all know we are excited big time. To add to the excitement, Samsung Galaxy S III has been announced the official mobile for the Olympics in London. The sad part is that you won’t be able to get your hands on one of these beauties.

VisaEurope will be installing a feature called the Visa Paywave that enables the bearer of the phone to buy stuff like drinks, merchandise and food. The user only needs to wave it over payment terminals – there are over 140,000 operational ones in theUK.

Purchases above $20 will have to be verified with passwords and other measures. Executive vise president and head of the sales and marketing team of Samsung’s mobile communications business, DJ Lee said that mobile payments services which are enabled by NFC technology are gaining momentum around the world.

He said the Samsung Galaxy S III has been created with out human needs capabilities in mind and is the ideal device to showcase the ease and convenience of Visa’s mobile payment applications at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Senior Vice president of mobile at Visa Europe, Sandra Alzetta has been heard saying that the future is mobile and cash usage will only continue to decline as people use their mobile devices to manage their money, shop and pay.

She said this summer, their partnership with Samsung will showcase all the advantages of the future of payments with security, convenience, speed and flexibility being in the front. Maybe after sometime, they will release the Olympic version of the phone too.
