Review: Xplore iX104C5 DMSR-M2

The Xplore iX104C5 DMSR-M2 tablet is mainly designed for the military and law enforcement, as it focuses on being a tough device. The M2 is one of the most rugged tablet devices in the market. It sports a 10.4-inch display, and has a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, and offers sunlight readable dual-mode touch-screen with extra brightness.

The M2 houses an expansion port and a cloth handle with a rubber grip at the right side of the device, while a docking connector sits on the left of the tablet. Two USB 2.0 ports, a headphone jack, microphone and AC adapter are provided under the left cover. The right cover holds a VGA port and Gigabit Ethernet.

The power button, a Kensington lock slot and docking pins for a GPS peripheral rest on the top edge of the tablet.The tablet measures 11.2 x 8.25 x 1.6-inch in dimension and weighs a hefty 5.8 pounds.

The Xplore iX104C5 DMSR-M2 is powered by a 1.06-GHz Intel Core i7-620UE processor and comes with 8GB of RAM. Though the tablet comes with windows 8 OS, Windows 7 version is also offered by the manufacturer.

At $5,299, the Xplore M2 comes with a standard three-year limited warranty.
