Review: Huawei Ascend D2

Samsung started a trend of large display devices and it seems that every other mobile phone maker is following the same path. At CES 2013, Huawei announced two new Android smartphones named the Huawei Ascend Mate and the Huawei Ascend D2. Both the devices are large, and fall under the category of phablets.

The Ascend D2, sports a 5-inch Full HD display like the HTC M7 and the Galaxy S4. The key feature of the phablet is its resolution. The Ascend D2 offers 1080×1920 pixel resolution with a pixel density of 443ppi and this is better than even the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5’s display.

The other specs of the Ascend D2 include a 13-megapxiel camera and a 2,900mAh battery. The device is expected to have a 1.5 GHz K3V2 Quad-Core CPU, made by Huawei and a GPU made by Hisilicon Technologies.

The UI of the device is specially-designed, so that it enables one-hand usage. The phablet comes with Smart Reading feature, which can translate words.

This handset will be available in China and Europe and the manufacturer will sell it online. Till now, Huawei hasn’t announced its carrier partnership but the Ascend D2 expects a price range of $600.

The Huawei Ascend D2 is a powerful phablet device with excellent features like smart display, powerful battery and a better camera.
