Review: HP Spectre TouchSmart XT Laptop

The HP Spectre TouchSmart XT, one of the first Windows 8 laptops is priced at $1,299. It is beautifully designed, reasonably thin and sports a 15-inch touch screen with 1,920x 1,080 pixels in resolution.

The Spectre XT has a metal body with a brushed design on the keyboard and lid. The keyboard holds a standard design with a few HP specific keys for Page Up, Page Down, and more. The keyboard is backlit and packs more useful alternate commands like volume and brightness control.

The touch pad offers enough resistance without being sticky and promises a smooth two-finger scrolling. The keyboard, touch screen, and touch pad all work s well. The device offers a fast Intel Core i7-3517M processor.

The best feature in the Spectre XT’s is its inclusion of a Thunderbolt port. This high-speed port connects to a variety of high-speed peripherals, mostly large external hard drives and can also power DisplayPort screens.

The HP Spectre TouchSmart XT is an amazing laptop device which offers a high-quality keyboard, touch pad, and speakers, and a Thunderbolt port. But for the premium price of $1,299 one must expect a few higher end features.
