Review: Coby MID8065

Coby is well-known for its consumer electronics products that come for cheap prices. And interestingly, they’re not all that bad. This year Coby has introduced a few tablet devices that feature dual-core processors and Android 4.0 OS. These devices will ship with the Play Store and other apps like Google Maps and Gmail.

Coby MID8065

The Coby MID8065 is one among the list that sports an 8 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display and has a 1.2 GHz AMlogic AM8726 ARM Cortex-A9 dual core processor. The front of the tablet sports an edge-to-edge piece of glass display which has plastic sides. On the bottom of the device there is a plastic panel with curved edges.

The device is priced at $156 and features 1GB of RAM, 8GB of in-built storage, 5-megapixel rear and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

On connectivity, it supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 and features stereo speakers and a microSD card slot to expand the storage for music, movies, or other files.

This 8 inch tablet measures 8.3 x 6.25 x 0.45-inch and weighs a little over a pound. The tablet has a mini HDMI port, so that you can connect the tablet to a TV or monitor. The Coby MID8065 also supports a micro USB port, headphone jack, and power jack.

The Coby MID8065 offers a decent level of performance at a great price. But it has poor viewing angles. In terms of day-to-day performance, the tablet is perfect for web browsing or playing games.
