Review: Asus Transformer Book TX300

The 13.3-inch screen Asus Transformer Book TX300 with detachable screen feature has made its way into the Indian market sporting a price tag of Rs. 91,999. The company claims this as the world’s thinnest Windows 8 hybrid and can function as a tablet too. The device runs on the Pro version of the Windows 8 OS and is fueled by a third generation Intel Core processor.

The device is full HD and it boasts an IPS touch panel which helps in wider viewing angles of up to 178 degrees. It is designed for portability and features a sleek profile and metal-based materials.

The Asus Transformer Book TX300 is powered by Intel Core i5 processor. There is separate storage space for the notebook and the tablet. For this, a 500GB hard drive and a 128GB SSD are embedded.

For game lovers, this is an excellent device as it occupies Intel HD 4000 graphics. The device is accessible to connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The device packs 4GB of DDR3RAM.

There are two cameras mounted on the device. The front snapper features an HD shooter while the rear grabs a 5MP camera. The device houses two batteries which provide enough capacity to run the notebook and the tablet.

There are many more features added on to the device, and they include SonicMaster which enhances its sound output. Another feature, MaxxAudio, enables full control EQ for movies, music and games. The device can work up to two weeks worth of standby time in notebook mode.

Though the exact release date has not been mentioned, it is likely to be available for purchase from the second week of July.

Verdict: Extremely portable device with a high price tag.
