Review: Alcatel One Touch Idol 6030 A

Alcatel’s One Touch Idol 6030A Idol is a mid ranged phone that comes to you sporting an unsubsidized price tag that reads $299.This Android Jelly Bean phone is thin and light weight. But, is it worth the money?

This rectangle device is designed classic, and looks appealing. With 5.24 x 2.66 x 0.3 dimensions, it looks slim and weighs only 4 ounces. Easy to use with one hand, the device doesn’t call for much thumb stretching even if you want to reach every nook and corner of the screen.

Though the screen size of 4.7 inches is decent, the resolution of mere 960 x 540 pixels comes as a disappointment. But then, the IPS technology ensures wide viewing angles. Brightness of the One Touch Idol is not as good as many of the competitors. But viewing the screen in sunlight isn’t a worry at all.

The audio quality of the One Touch Idol is amazing and can be rated as excellent. Sound just flows the back mounted speaker of the phone and is indeed music to your ears.

The Android Jellybean OS ensures features such as Google Now, which makes it even lovely. Powered by a 1 GHz dual-core MT6577 processor and 512 MB of RAM, the device may not be awesome if you would want to go for high speed download functionalities and browsing.

Apps are added by Alcatel in addition to Android’s default apps. A microSD slot for memory expansion up to 32 GB takes care of the storage options.

Imaging functions can be rated good with the device carrying an 8 megapixel camera. However the battery life disappoints, though the call quality can be rated as fairly good.  Lack of LTE support and display not being HD can make you think twice before going for it
