The mobile market in India will reach about 1.2 trillion INR by 2013 and new mobile connections will grow to 770 million by the end of this year.

Gartner Report

Shalini Verma, the principal research analyst at Gartner has been quoted as saying  that, though the mobile market shows growth, the mobile market in India will continue to face challenges if the average revenue per user (ARPU) does not grow significantly in the country.

Therefore, Indian telecommunications companies should try to take better plans to attract the customers. Still, companies have to face a few challenges. The first one is to increase their profit margin in intense competition and sustaining the growth by competing against the likes of Facebook and WhatsApp.

The Indian market shows a huge demand for mobile broadband and local mobile applications that solve the everyday problems for consumers. It may be noted that Aircel has recently introduced Pocket Internet cards costing 5 INR, 14 INR, 29 INR and 98 INR and these kind of smaller mobile broadband plans appeal to Indian consumers.
