HTC Butterfly S Sports 5-inch 1080p Display

HTC is following up well after the success of its Butterfly smartphone. The company has now announced Butterfly S, which is a mix of the HTC One and its predecessor.

The phone comes with a 5-inch 1080 p display, similar to the previous model, and also borrows design cues from HTC One.

The device is powered by a 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 SoC and is packed with 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD. Featuring an Ultrapixel camera on the back and a 2MP wide-angle front camera, the imaging department is well taken care of.

A 3200mAh battery powers the phone, which is driven by Android 4.2.2 Jellybean OS. The battery ensures life for more than 24 hours on a full charge.

The exterior of the device is also noteworthy, boasting a glossy polycarbonate paneling like a lower-end Desire series phone. There are two BoomSound-enabled front-facing speakers mounted on top.

The lack of an LTE baseband chip could attract North American importers less. However, it makes up with a quad-band HSPA+ radio that support Canadian carriers.

The device features capacitive multitasking button with virtual menu buttons occupying screen space. The Butterfly S goes on sale in Taiwan next month, tagging a price of around $750.
