HTC and Samsung Handsets Getting Android Jelly Bean Update

HTC and Samsung will be bringing the updated 4.1 version of Android to their latest handsets.  Google has already stated that Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Motorola Xoom will be receiving over-the-air (OTA) updates in mid-July.

Google has already handed developers about 6,000 Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphones loaded with a pre-release build of Android 4.1.

The GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners can grab the update straight from Google using a link from PTzero at the xda-developers forum.

In addition to this one, developer Bigxie has released a version that’s been rooted, deodexed and had busybox loaded in it.

Samsung has reportedly stated that it would be announcing additional devices that are eligible for the Jelly Bean update soon so as to compete in the market.

HTC also reported that they are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of their devices.

They stated that they are reviewing the software to determine their upgrade plans and schedule and reminded their fans to stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans.

It looks like a sale war is coming to the handset world and Jelly Bean will be the strength as well as weakness at that time.
