Best Things Offered by Intel Haswell Chips

Reportedly, PC sales have been dropped during the first quarter of 2013 due to increasing tablet demand and a lukewarm response for Windows 8 OS. But this can be changed by the introduction of Intel’s new Haswell chips. With this fourth generation Core series processors Intel is promising a much better battery life and graphics. Here we list the best features offered by the new Intel chip.

Improved Battery Life

The most impressive feature of Intel chips is that it offers more than 20 percent increase in battery life over the company’s previous generation CPUs. Intel managed this by reducing the total wattage the CPU requires to run various applications.

A Focus on 2-in-1 Devices

Intel has managed to reduce the size of Core-series processors by combining the CPU and Platform Controller Hub into one chip. This helps to make thinner devices and 2-in-1 devices. Intel has also worked to improve the Core series’ heat management.

Graphics Powerhouse

Intel Haswell chips come with a new line of integrated GPUs including the Intel HD Graphics 4200, 4400, 4600 and 5000 processors. It offers more power, enhanced 4K resolution support and the ability to use three displays as one. Intel Quick Sync Video software allows 9.2 times faster video processing and editing, along with improved JPEG and MPEG decoding speeds.

Improved WiDi Support

Intel’s WiDi (Wireless Display) technology in the Haswell chip allows users to throw an image or video from their notebooks to any other WiDi-equipped device for an improved viewing experience.

New Ultrabook Standards

Intel’s Haswell chips come with a new set of standards for Ultrabooks. By using this new chip a system should also be able to wake from sleep in less than 3 seconds and will offer more than 7 days of standby battery life. New Ultrabooks will also offers Intel’s Anti-Theft and Identity Protection Technology and be less than 23mm thick.
