Barnes & Noble Offers Nook Video in the UK

After launching its Nook e-reader in October, Barnes & Noble has now opened its Nook Video in the United Kingdom. From now on, the customers can buy films or TV shows through the system.

Barnes & Noble signed with BBC Worldwide, HBO, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures, Starz and Warner Bros.

The service is provided in standard and HD formats and includes Sherlock, Call the Midwife, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Ted, The Bourne Legacy, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Men in Black 3, Spartacus, Party Down, The Dark Knight Rises and Inception.

The customers are also allowed to download these services for storage in the Nook Cloud for playback.

The company is also offering UltraViolet titles in the UK. It is a digital locker based on a ‘buy once, play anywhere’ policy and allows users to buy a movie or TV show once and then play it from any 12 different devices. The UltraViolet users can add movies and TV shows to their UV library through a special code.

With this Nook Video launch, Barnes & Noble is ahead of Amazon, because Amazon does not operate Instant Video service in the country.

At present nook Video is available to customers who own  Nook HD and the Nook HD+.
