Australia Nexus S Users Getting Jelly Bean Update Today

As you have already heard, Google Android 4.1 is set to be coming out with three devices this month. The Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, and Motorola XOOM are ones which are to run on Android 4.1.

The unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus mobile phones have already been seeing the update and according to VodafoneAustralia, the handset will soon make its way to the top.

The carrier has gone far as to provide a date of delivery of on July 19th for the update on Google and Samsung’s Nexus S – which is today.

On another note, the update goes well for Nexus devices in general. The Nexus S launched in late 2010, as the first Gingerbread device.

It comes with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor and 512MB of memory, and is fully capable of running the latest version of Android. The update to Jelly Bean for the carrier’s Galaxy Nexus is said to still be in testing, which is a bit odd when considering a lot of things.

Google hasn’t even released the Jelly Bean image for the Nexus S on its website; the news should be greatly welcomed by owners of the device down under.

Other than promising a release sometime this month, it’s hard to say if the July 19th date will prove true outside of Australia.
