Apple iPad Mini Rumoured to Debut This Year Itself

We brushed aside all rumors that came our way about this smaller brother of iPad. But more and more rumors are just showering in.

The latest is that the much-hyped iPad mini will hit the market in the third or fourth quarter of this year. Since Apple has lined up suppliers for the LCD panel, this is the new buzz in the tech world.

Taiwan news outlet Liberty Times reported that Apple has already tagged LCD suppliers for an iPad mini and the company aims at launching the tablet in the second half of the year.

Citing a report by the Japanese securities firm Macquarie, the Liberty Times said the iPad mini could start shipping by the end of the third quarter. And what more, Apple aims to sell 6 million units.

Chinese online portal Netease also reported the same number and mentioned a price tag in the range of $249 to $299. The report also talked about LG and Au Optronics passing Apple’s certification tests for providing LCD panel. Another report said that the tablet would offer 8GB of storage and sell for $200

It is also being reported that TPK Holding will produce 4 million backlight modules, Chimei Innolux will provide an additional 2 million and Nissha Printing will make touch film sensor for the tablet.

That’s hell of a lot of news. Well, everything implies to one thing – a smaller iPad is on the way.
